Hiring: Grid Strategies Chief Operating Officer/VP of Power Sector Analysis

Chief Operating Officer (COO) and VP of Power Sector Analysis Posted June 2024 The COO/VP will play a crucial role in overseeing strategy, operations, and analysis.

  1. Guide firm business strategy: Evaluate business growth opportunities and develop overall strategy and strategic initiatives along with firm owners and staff.
  2. Manage the firm’s workload: Ensure we take on what we can deliver on at the outset of project commitments and client engagements, and ensure delivery on commitments. Manage team members’ workloads to reasonable levels.
  3. Lead staff and oversee productivity and culture: Mentor staff. Oversee hiring and performance review. Work to diversify the backgrounds of our team. Ensure high employee productivity. Build employee satisfaction. Create and maintain an inclusive office culture where team members can thrive.
  4. Power market analysis and policy strategy: Serve as a senior consultant and lead on some client projects. Engage in the substance of Grid Strategies’ power sector analysis and transmission work. Understand all Grid Strategies’ assignments and client satisfaction.
  5. Quality control: Ensure we have processes in place to check information and make sure our reports are of very high quality.
  6. Process Enhancement: Analyze internal operations and identify areas for process improvement. Develop and employ strategies to optimize firm operating capabilities, technology, and systems.
  7. Financial Oversight: Oversee bookkeeping and invoicing, manage outside tax advisors, safeguard assets, and control financial policies and procedures.
  8. Maximizing Client Satisfaction: Work directly with clients, in partnership with staff project managers, to understand client interests and ensure satisfaction.
  9. Marketing Initiatives: Manage marketing efforts to promote our consulting services.
  10. Lead consulting projects: Produce reports and/or help Grid Strategies clients understand issues in power markets and transmission policy and industry.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, industry and regulatory experience, and the ability to approach business challenges with a creative perspective.

Salary: $200-$250,000 per year, plus organizational performance bonus. Other compensation and benefits:

  • Employees can spend $1,000 on home-office expenses.
  • $2,000 per year for approved professional development activities and services.
  • Health insurance.
  • Employees have 15 days of paid vacation, plus all federal holidays, and the week between Christmas and New Years off. The sick time policy is flexible.
  • Potential for business travel.
